Calf Strains

CALF STRAINS

The calf area has 2 primary muscles, called the gastrocnemius and soleus. The gastrocnemius is more superficial and the soleus is deeper. A strain is a mild pull of a muscle and can occur in this area due to repetitive strain and overuse. The calf is usually strained during activities such as walking, running and jumping due to the high load on the calf muscles during these tasks.
