HOW CAN PHYSICAL THERAPY HELP?
One of the first parts of your physical therapy treatment will be education on proper footwear including possible need for arch support with inserts. Treatment will include manual or instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, joint mobility to improve range of motion, and manual stretches to reduce tissue tension. Your PT may recommend dry needling or cold laser to control pain. Treatment will also focus on restoring range of motion, strength, and balance. The home exercise program your PT will give you will be very important in your recovery and controlling symptoms going forward as many experience recurrences of pain.
