Oncology Rehab

Patients can benefit from Physical Therapy at every stage of their oncological diagnoses. Research supports Physical Therapy interventions before, during and after oncology treatment to increase survival and/or quality of life during this period. Exercise during and after cancer treatment can reduce side effects of treatment and help your body recover and fight side effects. Research from the American Society of Clinical Oncology has shown that physical activity and exercise can also lower the risk of cancer returning.

Physical Therapy can help address the following symptoms:

  • Cancer-related fatigue
  • Neuropathy
  • Lymphedema
  • Pain: chronic, acute, surgical
  • Fall Risk
  • Incontinence and sexual dysfunction

Patients can work with their Physical Therapist to address any of the symptoms above with the following potential patient-centered interventions:

  • Breathing mechanics/rib mobility
  • Stretching and Passive Range of Motion
  • Posture retraining
  • Pelvic Health
