Dr. Richard Montmeny is a Physical Therapist at Highbar Plymouth who brings extensive clinical and academic experience to his patient care. With a strong background in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, he is dedicated to helping patients reduce pain, restore movement, and return to their everyday activities with confidence.
Dr. Montmeny earned his PhD from the University of Connecticut (UConn) and has spent many years contributing to the advancement of physical therapy through both clinical practice and education. He has served as a Professor of Physical Therapy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Franklin Pierce University, helping train and mentor future generations of physical therapists.
His clinical interests include orthopedics, spine and back pain, neck pain and headaches, TMJ disorders, arthritis and osteoarthritis, dizziness and vertigo, and post-surgical rehabilitation. Dr. Montmeny is especially skilled in addressing complex musculoskeletal conditions and helping patients manage chronic pain while improving functional mobility.
In addition to his clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Montmeny has contributed to the profession through published research in the APTA Journal, reflecting his commitment to evidence-based practice and continued advancement of physical therapy care.
Through his combination of academic knowledge and hands-on clinical experience, Dr. Montmeny works closely with each patient to develop personalized treatment plans that support long-term health, recovery, and performance.
